Kent Youth League Preview

A mouthwatering encounter awaits Tonbridge Angels Under-16’s as they visit the Gallagher for a Kent FA County Cup quarter-final. They go into the game on a decent run of form, unbeaten in five and with County Cup wins against AFC Gravesend and Woodpecker included in that run.

Maidstone United, who have beaten Ashford United and Rising Stars to reach this stage of the competition, are also in good form, with a single defeat in their last five. Kick-off at the Gallagher is 10am, and whilst it is doubtful there’s anyone that doesn’t know the Gallagher’s whereabouts, it is James Whatman Way ME14 1LQ.

Also in County Cup action, the London variety, are the Under-15’s who have a tough trip on Saturday afternoon to Chingford to meet Onside FC. Kick-off is 2pm and the address is Broadfield Playing Fields, Walthamstow Avenue, Chingford, E4 8ST.

All of our other age groups have Kent Youth League fixtures, the last set before Christmas, including the Under-15’s who play for a second time in 24 hours as they open proceedings at the Yeomans Community Stadium at 12 noon when they host Hollands and Blair. Admission is free, with the tea hut open. Blair sit just a couple of points adrift of the Angels, so a close encounter can be anticipated.

Another tight game can be expected as the Under-14’s take on Cray Wanderers at the Yeomans, with a 2pm kick-off.  Cray are just a point behind the Angels in the Central Division and will take the field full of confidence, fresh from a 5-0 drubbing of Erith and Belvedere last Sunday whilst the Angels returned to wining ways with a 3-1 win over Chislehurst Glebe in the County Cup.

The Under-13’s travel to Snodland Town for a 10am kick-off at Paddlesworth Road, Snodland ME6 5DP. The two teams have already met twice this season with the Snods winning the corresponding KYL fixture at the Yeomans 3-1, but in the County Cup a week later, it was the Angels that emerged victorious by 3-0.

Good luck to all our teams this weekend, enjoy the games and have a wonderful festive break.
