Dagenham preview

On Tuesday evening the Angels will visit Dagenham and Redbridge, the title favourites, for the first time under the present incarnation of both clubs.

For, probably just a few of our supporters, the return to Victoria Road comes 58 years after an FA Cup First Round defeat by a single goal on a snow covered pitch that today would undoubtedly be deemed unplayable.

Dagenham, like ourselves, come into the game with a single point on the board following an opening day defeat at home to Ebbsfleet United and a draw at Salisbury on Saturday.

The Daggers were an EFL League One club in 2010 after winning promotion from the Conference in 2007. They were relegated back to the National League in 2016 and slipped into the South following a 21st place finish last season.

Dagenham and Redbridge’s much publicised summer signing, the former England striker Andy Carroll, has not featured in a competitive game for the Daggers yet this season, while another high-profile signing Tim Dieng went off injured in their season opener and wasn’t involved at Salisbury.

Players to look out for include ex-Ebbsfleet midfielder Christian N’guessan, former Gillingham defender Christian Maghoma, and striker Ashley Hemmings, who won the National League North golden boot last season with Kidderminster Harriers. They have one former Angel in their squad in Paul Kalambayi, who spent a period on loan at Longmead from AFC Wimbledon in the 2017-18 season.

Our supporters will be seated in the Choice Training Stand, which is situated alongside the South Stand. Entry is via turnstile 8 which is accessed from the rear of the main car park.
