Angels Over-60’s Blues 1 Ashford Internazionale 1
A great start for our O-60’s Blues on Saturday saw them take the lead after three minutes with a bullet shot from Gordon Ramsey from near the halfway line. The Angels continue to have full control of the game but stoic Ashford defence limited our shots to few and far between.
Early in the second half, pressure from the Angels led to a series of shots on goal narrowly missing, saved by the keeper and one hitting the post but Ashford still defended strongly. But with the Angels attacking a mishit clearance left Ashford two-on-one with the Angels defence. A lofted shot from distance into the top corner was all it took to give our visitors a 1-1 draw. A disappointing end to the day, but we remain top of the league for the time being.
Bexley Blues 0 Angels Over-60’s Blues 6
Whenever we play at Bexley it is always wet and windy and Monday Night was no different. The first 10 minutes of this game was a cagey affair with not much being given by either side. However 12 minutes into the first half an excellent combination of passes down the right hand side resulted in Gordon Ramsey placing a great shot past the Bexley keeper into left hand corner of the goal. From then on Tonbridge Blues did not look back and dominated the game. Two further goals followed quickly with the first coming from another excellent combination of passes leaving Nigel Bragg to slot home the second. Ending the half strongly the next followed in quick succession with Graham Smith going straight down the middle of the pitch and slotting the third goal home.
Half Time and Alan Kane replaces Martin Brindley and it’s very much the same as the first half with another fine passing move resulting in Gordon’s second goal. Steve Rice then came on for Graham and Gordon dropped back into defence, a further substitution with Kelvin Champion on for Nigel and within a couple of minutes Kelvin struck the fifth goal. With dominant possession and Bexley getting cross with themselves, they gave away a penalty which Steve Elliott smashed into the net offsetting the two shots he had skied out of the ground earlier in the first half (both of them are probably still going!)
A great performance all round with a clean sheet for Mike.
The Blues remain top of the table, four points clear of Ashford.
