With Truro City out of the way, at least for this season, Tonbridge Angels’ hardy band of travelling support make their longest journey of the season tomorrow, a mere 450-mile round trip to Torquay United.
Torquay United are in strong form at present, three points adrift of leaders Hornchurch and with a superior goal difference.
They have won their last five league games, one of them 7-0 against Eastbourne Borough, and another inflicted Worthing’s only league defeat in the nine league games they have played since Adam Hinshelwood’s return to the club.
Top scorer is Jordan Young with 12 with Louis Dennis, a player Alan Dunne will know from his time at Bromley, closely behind with ten. They also have the ex-Bath front man Cody Cooke and a one time Angels’ loanee Sonny Fish.
Last season’s corresponding fixture brought an admirable point from a goalless draw, responding well to the heartbreaking FA Cup defeat at the hands of Harborough Town the previous Saturday. In the final moments, despair turned to relief with the sight of a raised linesman’s flag denying the home side a winning goal and a goalless draw had probably not been so rapturously celebrated in a long time.
We are to be situated in Block A of the Bristow’s Bench stand with admission prices set at Adults £22; Concessions £20; Students/Armed Forces £20; Under-8’s to U18’s £13 and can be purchased HERE. There are no away tickets sold on the turnstile and tickets purchased on the day should be made at the ticket office. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Plainmoor, it should be noted, is a cashless stadium.
Torquay United are hosting an enhanced test event permitting supporters to consume alcoholic drinks in their seats. Away supporters in Section A of Bristow’s Bench may purchase alcohol from Gulls Nest before 3pm and take their drinks back to their seats. After 3pm, away fans will not have access to Gulls Nest.
Supporters arriving by car should be aware that there is no stadium parking, so considerate residential parking needs to be found.
Train travellers arriving at Torquay Station face a 2.3 mile walk to Plainmoor, or for those rather less energetic, bus 35A can be picked up from Torquay Harbourside.
Enjoy the game!
